Do you have a vehicle that you no longer use? Consider donating it to The GAS IT! Grant. Thru this program, we broker donations of vehicles between donors and unhoused residents of Oakland.
As one of our systems of sweat equity we use with the Village in Oakland, donated vehicles are matched with unhoused volunteers to make sure our people are taken care of.
To support folks who haven’t given up on themselves, we also match vehicles with unhoused students and unhoused workers who are not volunteers with the Village in Oakland.
Personal, recreation and commercial vehicles are always needed. Some of our unhoused people need vehicles to help them (and their families) get to work and school. Some of our folks living curbside could use an RV to live. Some of our unhoused Oakland’s are self-sufficient, but are in need of a van or pick-up truck to help them with their businesses.
Please contact us at villageoakland@gmail.com to find out more about this program or if you have a vehicle to donate to this effort. Vehicles must have all paperwork, be registered, and in working condition. We also accept trailers, box trucks, rigs, tiny homes on wheels, and 5th wheels.
