Direct Services

Feed The People

Feed the People started in January 2016 when Needa Bee and her then 14 year-old daughter Joyous Efiya De Asis Miralle started sharing weekly hot meals to the two curbside communities in the Funktown neighborhood she had spent most of her life in, and the communities in the North Oakland neighborhood she had recently relocated to.

SOS – Sanitation Ona Streets

Adequate sanitation is hard to come by for unhoused folks. We believe access to sanitation is a human right. Because the local governments fall short of providing sanitation services to our curbside residents, we created SOS.

As of Fall 2022, we stopped providing portapotty and hand washing station services to curbside communities, as the City of Oakland’s human services said they would provide the facilities for this basic human need.

As of mid 2023, we are gearing up to start providing this service again as the City of Oakland has stopped providing this service to all communities that need it.

Our Work During The COVID19 Pandemic

During the pandemic, the work of Feed The People tripled in scope. We expanded distribution services to unhoused communities in Berkeley and San Francisco. And in Oakland we expanded services to housed senior citizens and families with children who are facing food scarcity during the pandemic.
